Hi, I have a question. Make a wish and write it on a piece of paper. Paint one eye of the daruma and place the paper below it. Once your wish comes true, paint the other eye. After painting the second eye, what should I do? Should I keep the daruma, bring it to a temple, or something else?

3:28 WHAT? European Castles primary purpose was to be a fortified residence of a nobleman. I believe you're confusing them with Palaces. Most of medieval European warfare was sieging castles. Medieval castles were built with defense as their primary objective, many castles were retrofitted later to become more stately homes, removing some of the defenses qualities in favor of more comfortable living standards like building windows on the ground floor, but in the middle ages everything about their construction was connected to defense. Medieval castle walls were made from stone (generally) and they were often several meters thick, sometimes as thick as 6 meters. They wouldn't have windows except for the highest floors, instead they would have arrow loops which would allow archers to shoot from inside the castle itself without exposing themselves to enemy projectiles. They also built large towers in strategic locations that project outward in order to provide archers with better line of sight of enemies attacking the walls. They would be constructed with crenellations at the top of the walls and towers to allow archers to hide behind while they were not shooting at enemies, and they were built with either machicolations or wooden hoardings which would allow archers to shoot downward at enemies on the wall or even drop heavy rocks,, hot sand, or boiling water onto enemies, They would often be build on hill, or even on top of a small mountain in order limit the enemies approach to one side, they would often use a moat, draw bridge, and gatehouse which would be very thick and if any enemies managed to get through the first gate they would be stuck outside of another gate but this time they would have "murder holes" above them which would allow them to shoot arrows, or drop dangerous things onto attackers. Quite a lot of European castles were called "concentric castles" meaning they would have multiple sets of walls, if you managed to breach the first wall you were then stuck trying to breach the second, higher wall. There are many, many other defensive innovations European castles used for defense. In fact, a stone European castle from the middle ages would have been far more defensible than Japanese castles. Many of these castles could not be breached before the invention of gunpowder and were only defeatable by besieging the castle, surrounding it and waiting for the inhabitants to starve. This could take years. Japanese castles were far less defensible being built from a base level of earth and stone, but the rest being made from wood. Wood might not be as simple to burn, but it would still be more vulnerable to giant stone projectiles launched from mangonels or catapults. Another serious design flaw of Japanese castles, despite it being more difficult to light lacquered wood on fire, it's still not safe from fire, one of the methods Europeans and middle easterners would use to deal with enemy siege engines was to light them on fire when they were pushed to the wall of the castle. You couldn't do that in a Japanese castle because you would burn your own castle down. This would mean taht you wouldn't even need to make a siege tower in order to scale the walls, you could make a battering ram enclosed in a wooden structure to shield it from counter attack from above or on the sides. In reality, a Japanese castle might be difficult to attack, they tended to sacrifice defensibility for luxury. making them more palace like than castle, similar to European castles AFTER the middle ages, when they were retrofitted for prestige and comfort, but during the middle ages, castles were intended to "dominate" the surrounding land they occupied and allowed the lord of the castle to administer the realm without the threat of being overthrown during a revolt, or captured during enemy raids. In fact, during the Mongol invasion of Europe, they were able to defeat and conquer lands in Eastern Europe which were made from wood, but stopped their invasion once they started running into the tens of thousands of stone castles in Western Europe, and then abandoning the campaign all together after the Khan died.
